What I was trying to stress was why such sexual and immoral desires are bombarded in the media targeting it to gay youths? How is that alowing a wholeness of the individual to be developed and then promoting, and accepting the realistic viewpiont that there are good people out there? I guess in the end it is the individuals choice to become gay and decide whether or not they want to be influenced by the media and such. I suggest you talk with some gay youth and ask them which is correct: a viewpoint which tells them they're broken while comparing them to drug addicts and alcoholics or one which tells them they're whole and good just as they are. I think any reasonable intelligent rational fair minded person knows which viewpoint is winning the hearts and minds of not only each new generation gay youth but also the straight ones as well. The thing I am serioulsy most concerned with was found in the gift bags handed out at the Piont Foundation. As I read, the contents within bag were very disturbing. These teenagers were given a dirty sex DVD called, “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” and a sex issue magazine. Who knows if pornography would be another issue among these gay teens, but I am most concerned with the fact that they are encouraging adult-child sex relations and premarital sex. Adult-child sexual relations are against the Law!; the biased view point once again supports and promotes these activities among homosexuals. While I enjoyed Hedwig, I wouldn't have shown it when I was a high school teacher. While it has some inspiring messages within it, many wouldn't understand them. As for the Advocate, it also is too adult for teenagers in my opinion. This is a problem in mainstream gay media. There aren't any choices really that don't involve huge amounts of space devoted to the sexual marketplace/personal ads/sexual themes. Gay teens shouldn't be expected to be sexually mature just because their gay.
