yard signI see how popular these yard signs have become and wonder at people's motivation for posting them. Perhaps they're a part of a vast Christian Fundamentalist propaganda mobilization effort. But I'm being a little silly there. Or am I?

A New Generation of Irrational Haters Arise

October 7, 2005 11:39 PM | Comments (3)
Coward LabelNewsbusters.org denounces the Time magazine article The Battle Over Gay Teens by John Cloud as playing with the facts. I ventured into the comments and found myself in a sea of stubborn prideful dismay at John Cloud's audacity to report gay teenagers as (GASP!) mostly happy well-adjusted people....
idolatry I fear that many who call themselves Conservative but aren't themselves Christian Fundamentalists are choosing not to make a distinction given the current theocratic climate of the GOP. Too many Conservatives don't seem to worry about or understand the implications of the Christian Fundamentalist takeover of...

The Anti-Gay Industry and Paul Cameron

August 2, 2005 10:57 PM | Comments (1)
Paul CameronInspired by the organizing successes of early anti-gay crusaders like Anita Bryant, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, fundamentalist political activists have turned the anti-gay movement into a virtual industry over the last three decades...
Being GayIn the past 30 years since leaving the "ex-gay" ministry I have seen nothing but shattered lives, depression and even suicide among those connected with the "ex-gay" movement...
executed gay teenagersTwo gay teenagers, Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni, were publicly executed in Iran on 19 July 2005 for the 'crime' of homosexuality. Iran enforces Islamic Sharia law, which dictates the death penalty for gay sex. (more photos)
Adultery and JesusJesus did teach about marriage. In the gospel of Mark, Jesus is remembered to have said that if a man "divorces his wife and marries another, he commits adultery against her." There are no exceptions noted...

Moyers: Orthodoxy Is Unconsciousness

June 23, 2005 3:30 PM | Comments (0)
Bill MoyersAn unconscious indoctrinated people, fed only on partisan information and opinion that confirm their own bias, made morbidly obese in mind and spirit by the junk food of propaganda, is less inclined to put up a fight, ask questions and be skeptical...

Everyday Evil Reborn

May 19, 2005 4:44 AM | Comments (6)
hate filled mobYesterday it was 'Purity of Race'; today, 'Sanctity of Marriage'. Jim Crow is reborn as One Man One Woman. The wicked Jesse Helms is replaced by the wicked Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and James Dobson. The racist white majority has reappeared as the homophobic evangelical majority...

Totalitarian Evangelical Domination

May 6, 2005 1:25 AM | Comments (0)
StalinIn the late 1970s there was a takeover. Ostensibly the issue was the Bible, but the real issue was control: who gets to decide how the Bible's interpreted, whether women could be ministers, what the agenda of the Church will be. And slowly, but effectively, they took over the leadership of the Southern Baptist Convention...

The War on Michael, The Legacy of Terri

March 30, 2005 10:12 PM | Comments (1)
Michael and Terri SchiavoWhat happened to the 'sanctity of marriage'? It appears the anti same-sex marriage folks have again abandoned rationality and facts in favor of the hearsay supporting gut emotional reactions. Many of course claim their views represent 'God's Will'. This I find especially immoral, arrogant, self-serving...

JFK on Church State Relations

March 27, 2005 3:19 PM | Comments (0)
John F. KennedyI believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute; where .. no Protestant minister would tell his parishioners for whom to vote; .. that is officially neither Catholic, Protestant nor Jewish - where no public official .. accepts instructions on public policy from .. any .. ecclesiastical source...
Hurray!Contrary to an all-too-common misperception, it is simply not the case that all clergy and religious communities in Kansas support this amendment. In our considered view, this proposal threatens to dignify discrimination and undermine religious liberty. Furthermore, we feel that it violates a basic tenant...
MoyersFor the first time in our history ideology and theology hold a monopoly of power in Washington. Theology asserts propositions that cannot be proven. Ideologues hold stoutly to a world view despite reality. When ideology and theology couple, their offspring are not always bad but always blind...

Santa Boogey - Myth, Mystery and Manure

February 19, 2005 12:07 AM | Comments (1)
Santa ClausRecently, I skimmed a discussion thread between an evangelical christian and a non-evangelical gay person regarding salvation, sin, god and of course homosexualtiy. the gay person was trying to reason with the evangelical while the evangelical was trying to exorcise the gay man. It was all rather insane...

BusterSweet 'Buster' is far from radical By Matthew Gilbert, Globe Staff January 29, 2005 12:34:56 PM 12:34:56 PM The most incendiary thing about the controversial lesbian episode of the kid's show "Postcards From Buster" may be the food. I mean really, who puts a pickle on a plate with maple syrup, shaved ice...

Jesus' Message Unwelcome on CBS & NBC

December 2, 2004 12:34 PM | Comments (0)
United Church of Christ logoSince the anti-gay marriage amendments passed and President Bush threw his support behind a federal amendment, the forces which seek to segregate the homosexual back into 'the closet' have, of course, grown more confident. CBS and NBC (see below) have outright acquiesced to the further oppression, exclusion and...

Pious Irrelevancies

December 7, 2003 9:23 PM | Comments (0)
It appears hatred and the pulpit are long-time friends. Preachers, ministers, priests, bishops and the like aren't enlightened folk simply because they have a title. They're imperfect human beings just like the rest of us. Some may be wiser...
